1The Notebook

This is most likely the first film that springs to mind when someone mentions a tear-jerking romance with some of the most famous romantic movie quotations ever ("If you're a bird, I'm a bird," anyone?). But, for those unfamiliar with Nicholas Sparks' drama, it's a parallel narrative story that follows Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) as teenagers and later in a nursing home, where Allie is cared for as she suffers from dementia. Noah narrates a narrative from his notebook to Allie in the early 2000s about two young lovers in the 1940s and how the odds were stacked against them. There isn't a single five-minute segment in the entire film that doesn't make the viewer cry.

2. Love, Rosie

This is the film for you if you want a heartwarming film that really displays what it's like to be in love. Love, Rosie depicts two best friends who have been in love for years but have kept their feelings hidden for fear of rejection and the sake of their friendship.

It keeps you on the edge of your seat as the two loves keep missing one other, and it's well worth your time to see.

3. TITANIC

Without Titanic, what tragic romance movie list would be complete? It effectively established the genre. If you're unfamiliar with the story, Rose (Kate Winslet) and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) meet on the Titanic as it travels from Europe to New York City. She's a young socialite engaged to a wealthy man of similar status when she meets Jack and decides she doesn't want to live a superficial, snobbish existence. It's a fresh twist on the classic story of forbidden love, as well as the eternal essence of love.

4. ME BEFORE YOU

Emilia Clarke is very stunning in this film, and we can't help but admire her. She works as a caretaker for a paraplegic guy, played by the lovely Sam Claflin, who doesn't have the will to live. We see them fall head over heels for each other, only to be met with one of Hollywood's worst endings ever. We're fairly certain we wept ourselves to sleep.

5. THE BEST OF ME

This touching, romantic tale about the enduring power of love is based on famous author Nicholas Sparks' #1 New York Times Best Seller. Dawson and Amanda (James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan), former high school sweethearts, rekindle their love during a loved one's funeral 20 years after tragedy separated them. They have a better grasp of their choices as they reflect on and relive the past. The Best of Me is a wonderfully romantic narrative of love, hope, and second chances, starring Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato and featuring breathtaking scenery and music by Lady Antebellum.
